Proudly hungover after the above-mentioned Rotterdam festival, I'll refrain from detailed accounts of an actually quite personal experience. Still:- the well tempered violin of Noah and the Whale. Their bitter cheerfulness and soothing sadness.
- (not such a revelation) the British charisma of Mumford and Sons, their cold guitar melancholy. A voice to give me shivers (in a good way).
- fair attempt at mixing psychedelic and punk - Crystal Antlers.
- fascinating Dutch performances - Moss and Veenfabriek- Eckhardt.
- rhythm and looks - Johnny Flynn. Folkie country blue eyes.
- how to boogie on Fool's Gold.
- how you can experience with unusual music instruments and not miss out on the harmony.
I can't really see what my enduring festivals limit is...it's surely somewhere far. Those festivals themed yet diverse, where you can overdose on live music and art, the festivals that are in the air reaching for the souls...
Wishful thinking before dreaming on. Excluding no longer active French bands and rock gods and jazz godesses, I wish for:..Radiohead... .Fever Ray... Beirut... REM... Massive Attack... Arctic Monkeys... Archive... Cocorosie... AIR... Cloud Cult... Waldeck... ... ...
